LONDON UNIVERSITES SPORTS LEAGUE (LUSL)
The London Universities Sport Leagues offer competitive sports exclusively to university and college students in London.
LUSL was launched in 2012 in line with the BUCS mission to enhance the student experience through sport, by providing opportunities for more students to partake in quality sport, more often. With the aim of filling the gap in the provision of Higher Education sport, LUSL targets the students who want to compete against other universities but not on a national or regional BUCS level. Team captains primarily take responsibility for the running of their teams which helps to develop their leadership skills and enriches their experience with HE sport.
33 London Institutions currently have between two and forty five teams participating in LUSL. The 2014-15 season has once again seen an increase in the number of teams from Years 1 and 2 and there are now 390 teams competing throughout the week in the 14 different sports offered.
LUSL is unique from BUCS as it is able to offer not only male and female competition but mixed sports as well. Currently mixed competitions are running in badminton, hockey, tennis, ultimate, volleyball and waterpolo. LUSL is also able to offer sports that are not currently part of BUCS competition and 2013 saw the introduction of Handball.
The LUSL Management Group is made up of members of the BUCS London Region and BUCS staff to oversee the development and structure of the leagues. Representative members include the London staff and student Chairs, a Director of Sport and a university Administrator. If you have any questions regarding LUSL, please email (LUSL administrator).
